Living in Scripps Ranch
The vibe
Scripps Ranch takes its name from newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps, who bought land on the mesa in 1890 and named his estate Miramar. His staff planted the eucalyptus groves that still shade many streets. The community is mostly single-family homes, with townhomes and condos mixed in. The 2003 Cedar Fire destroyed about 300 homes here, and the area rebuilt.
