Living in Carlsbad Village

The vibe

The Village is Carlsbad’s original downtown. The city guides its growth through the Village & Barrio Master Plan.

In 1883 John A. Frazier bought land here and tapped an artesian spring, and the train stop became known as Frazier’s Station. An analysis found the water matched Well No. 9 at Karlsbad, Bohemia, and in 1886 the Carlsbad Land and Mineral Water Company gave the town its name.
