San Diego is the ninth largest city in the United States, and it has all the culture, arts, restaurants, museums, sports, and parks to prove it. But, it’s hard to notice the size of this metropolis as each area feels like its own village.
With an excellent, upgraded public transport system and clean, safe streets, you can easily pop from one neighborhood to another depending on the entertainment or work you’re after.
Little Italy
With 48 blocks under its umbrella, San Diego’s Little Italy is the largest in the country. In addition to the weekly “Mercato,” or market, where locals buy their groceries, you’ll find plenty of restaurants, live music, and annual events that are easily accessible from the condos and artist lofts found here.
East Village
The East Village is the largest neighborhood in San Diego – and it definitely needs all the space it can get. If you want sports, you’ll head to Petco Park after pre-gaming at any of the sports bars surrounding the field. But the East Village is so much more than baseball with its museums and cultural events. This neighborhood, with its lofts converted from historic warehouses, is committed to improving life for residents across the city.
Marina District
The Marina District is a surprisingly quiet neighborhood considering how desirable it is to be here. Luxury condos are the name of the game in this area along the San Diego Bay, and you’ll find plenty of exclusive bistros mixed with boutique shopping. If you need a relaxing afternoon, the Embarcadero Marina Park is just a walk away.
Cortez Hill
You can’t miss the El Cortez Condominium building at the corners of Ash and Seventh streets in the Cortez Hill neighborhood. Once a hotel, this impressive structure represents both the history and the transformation of the neighborhood. As one of the oldest residential sections of town, you’ll find more row homes and town homes than anywhere else in the city.
The Core
As the name suggests, the core is located in the heart of the city, bordered by Cortez Hill, the East Village, Little Italy, amongst other neighborhoods. Traditionally, the Core is San Diego’s business district, but you can find luxury condos at Vantage Point and easy access to all the entertainment surrounding the banks and theaters here.
Gaslamp
The Gaslamp isn’t just historic; it’s the heart of San Diego’s nightlife. The 16 blocks in this neighborhood are a foodie and nightlife lover’s dream. You’ll find an almost endless number of restaurants and live music venues alongside some of the most sought after condos in Victorian-era buildings. Once you get a taste of this side of town, you’ll always have a special place for it in your heart.
